East 60, Dixon 58: Davin Hinkle’s two free throws with 16 seconds left capped a 13-1 run and gave Rockford East 60-58 win over Dixon Monday night at the Class 3A Regional.
D’Wan Horton led the E-Rabs with 32 points and had 13 rebounds. Horton also had seven steals.
Deontray Austin chipped in 11 points.
Nick Rains and Matt Ross led the Dukes with 15 points, while Garrett Kerr added 11.
East will take on Freeport tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Freeport 59, Dixon 35:Freeport (26-3) went on a 15-0 run that lasted just over two minutes to wipe out a 3-0 lead by Dixon (9-18).
Suporia Dickens led Freeport with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Katie Norman had 14 points and Courtney Shiffer 12. Freeport outrebounded Dixon 37-15.

Freeport 59, Dixon 35: Dixon, outgunned and outmanned, played confidently and aggressively against No. 7 Freeport in the semifinals of the Class 3A Sterling Regional.
“It’s a night to be loose and free,” coach Bob Venier said. “When you know the cards are against you, just go out and play hard and do the things you were coached to do and prove to yourself that it works. And it did.”
Dixon 56, East 31: East only shot 13-of-54 from the field in the loss. Sherrell Woods led East with 12 points.
Dixon was led by 12 points each from Jenny Christ and Hannah Schnake. Dixon moves on to face Freeport Wednesday at 6 p.m.
LaSalle-Peru 54, Dixon 45: Matt Ross had 20 points in the loss for Dixon.

Sycamore 69, Dixon 38: Kate Binder (18 points) led four Spartans in double figures. Montia Johnson added 16, Jamie Wilson 14 and Jessica Pluhm 10. Lyndsey Brevitt had 10 points for Dixon.

ROCHELLE — After starting Western Sun play at 0-6, an old friend was just what the Rochelle basketball team needed to reverse its fortunes.
The Hubs (7-12) defeated former NCIC conference mate Dixon, 67-54. The win snapped a 4-game losing streak for Rochelle, which last won against Streator, another NCIC team.
Dixon 72, Oregon 66: Ben Jacobs had a team-high 22 points for Oregon, while Ryan Rosenbalm and Drew Smith added 16 apiece.

ROCKFORD — Michael Morman had three 3-pointers and 13 of his team-high 21 points in the second quarter to lead Boylan to a 68-45 home win Saturday against Guilford.
Boylan led by three (18-15) after the first quarter but then pulled away in the second with a 21-14 run.
Kieran Jansen and Jason Painter added eight points apiece for the Titans.
Dontay Hanson’s 18 points was the team-high for the Vikings.
Chuck Dayton Holiday Tournament
STERLING - Sterling scored 31 points in the second quarter and led 34-0 at halftime and won 48-21.
The Golden Warriors scored on runs by Niko Rivera (11 and 26 yards), Jason Long (40 yards), Keaton Cervantes (2 yards), a 22-yard pass from Rivera to Dustin Fritsch, and field goals of 21 and 24 yards by Raciel Ocampo.
Dixon scored all its points in the fourth quarter.

DIXON — The Dukes played strong defense, but mustered only 73 yards in total offense.
Dixon took an early 2-0 lead by tackling Matt Sondgeroth in the end zone for a safety, but Sondgeroth later returned the second-half kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown.
ROCHELLE — Dan Ruppenthal ran for 132 yards and two TDs on 20 carries to lead Rochelle’s dominant ground game.
The Hubs ran for 337 yards in their 30-0 win, with Austin Gabriel adding 93 and Ben Schwart 63. Nate Eyster completed 4 of 7 passes for 54 yards and one TD for the Hubs (2-0), who scored one TD in each quarter.
Dixon (1-1) was held to 95 yards, including 28 yards rushing on 25 carries.
