Rockford FIRE 54, Crestwood 51: The Rockford FIRE won its first Illinois Homeschool state title Saturday by beating Crestwood 54-51. Sophomore David Hellstrom hit a 3-pointer with 2.6 seconds left that gave the FIRE the lead.
Hellstrom finished with 19 points, and Tom Doherty added 13.
The FIRE will compete in the Homeschool Nationals, March 16-22 in Springfield, Mo.
