Stillman Valley 71, Forreston 56

Stillman Valley 71, Forreston 56: Just when it looked like Forreston had taken control with a 25-10 second-quarter run, Val McKnight (22 points) and Cassie Glendenning (18) wrenched it back for Stillman. The No. 2 seeds opened the second half with a 35-9 run as McKnight and Glendenning repeatedly drove to the basket.

“We tried to get (the left-handed) Glendenning to go right, but we couldn’t,” said Stephanie Conkey, who led Forreston (20-10) with 18 points. “She was so quick. And McKnight is lightning fast.”

“McKnight, she diced through us, contorted her body somehow and put up shots that went in,” Forreston coach Nicole Brinker said. “And once you stop one, they kick it out to the other side to the other one and they are attacking that baseline. They had us, especially that second half, out of our element defensively.”

Sarah Nicholson added 14 points and Amy Neville 10 for Stillman (14-9), which will play No. 1 seed Lutheran for the title Thursday. Holly Kortemeier added 16 points for Forreston and Morgann McCoy 15.
